Today's Must Have: Jan 31, 2013

How gorgeous is this Lanvin Bag? It put a big smile on my face when I first saw it. It's so fresh and would look great if paired with a white top. Just picture yourself wearing this bag to a late lunch in the Caribbean. It just has that great chic, relaxed vibe to it. Or you can dress it up a bit. Put on a great pair of sandal flats, and lightweight silk dress, and enjoy dinner with your significant other while vacationing in Saint Kitts. Well, you can dream! What do you think of the bag?

Private Property

http://www.renaudmarion.com
Photographer Renaud Marion, captures the beauty and intricacy of the front gate in this series titled "Private Property". When you think of a home, you often think about the entry way as the focal point. In these photographs, the front gate is the focal point. While some front gates are stately and beautiful, others have a more "natural" appearance to say the least! (ABOVE) The front gate and architecture of this house are interconnect. Both are ornately decorated and stately. I love the row of hedges leading to the front doorway. (BELOW 1) This front gate looks like a Frank Lloyd Wright home awaits you on the other side. It's very modern, clean, and simple. (BELOW 2) This front gate appears to be far more cheerful. I love the bold turquoise, it's so calming. It seems the front gate here is manually operated. (BELOW 3) I see this front gate around a home in Beverly Hills. The columns and the potted hedges soften the black iron material, giving your eye a break. (BELOW 4) This front gate needs a little love and attention. It seems like things are getting overgrown around the gate. A smart move if you're trying to conceal your multi-million dollar home on the other side! (BELOW 5) This green gate makes me feel like I'm about to enter some far off land. You can see the tall Cypress trees stick out, I'm guessing a very stately home on the other side? What do you think of Renaud's work?

Room Spotlight: Chic Apartment Glamour

http://www.lonny.com
The best way to describe this space in my opinion is to call it "Chic Apartment Glamour"! Though I don't know if this Living Room is actually in an apartment, it has that feel. It's cozy, quaint, and has a lot of personality in an otherwise small space. What gives this space a fresh open feel is the use of glass, Lucite, mirror, and pastel colors. The fireplace is the focal point and has a gorgeous stone frame and mantel. My favorite pieces in the space are the Lucite chairs, and area rug. The purple sofa keeps the space fun and casual. The Living Room does not feel uptight, it feels like a relaxing place to unwind in at the end of a long day. What do you think of the space? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

Happy Monday, January 28, 2013 readers! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! The spring inspired look above is photographed in Milan, Italy. Just the thought of Italy, puts a big smile on my face! Everything about this look gets me excited. First of all, I love the floral jacket. It's spot on trend for the season and puts the whole outfit together. The Eiffel Tower bag is just amazing. It's definitely unique and a great conversation piece. It gives the look some life and some energy. Are you a fan of florals for spring?

1. If you are then start clicking these links! This jacket, has a wonderful movement and structure to it. I love the floral silk fabric. This silk-crepe dress, has a bold, retro floral print. It's a youthful dress as it has a large front slit. Perfect for a night out.

2. Are we thinking about Valentine's day? Ladies, give your guy this cool mountable sports camera. Being a guy, I'd be pretty psyched to get this mini camera to mount onto my helmet and record my tricks. Men, give your lady this pretty necklace. It can be worn with so many outfits.

3. This radio, is out of this world. The Plugg radio by Skrekkogle turns off by simply putting a cork in the speaker. It's only prototype at the moment, would you buy it?

The Waterfront House

http://www.sothebysrealty.com
I'm so excited about today's featured house. Isn't it just gorgeous? The home is located in Lloyd Harbor, New York and boasts over 15,000 square feet of living space on more than 3 acres of waterfront property. Each part of the property is meticulously landscaped and feels like a wonderful escape. With 6 bedrooms and 8 eight bathrooms it's definitely a home for a large family, in addition, the property features a detached guest house. (ABOVE) A long private driveway takes you to the front motorcourt. As you approach the front motorcourt you are surrounded by greenery and water to the left. The all-white facade gives it that refreshing feel. The home's architecture has many colonial influences. (BELOW 1) A private courtyard for you to relax. A beautiful stone floor, flowers, and tall trees make you feel as though you are in a different world. (BELOW 2) The side-yard features tall hedges for privacy as well as plenty of lawn for playing. The sloped lawn makes it look like a great place for snow sledding? (BELOW 3) Relax on the back porch with its stunning views of the pool and the water. During the fall and winter, light a fire. (BELOW 4) The home also features a private dock. (BELOW 5) How amazing does the home look from the back? What a commanding estate! I can totally picture myself swimming in that pool, and sitting at the bar to the left! What do you think of the home?

Painting The City

http://www.redrabbit7.com
Artist Jeremy Mann's cityscape oil paintings are absolutely incredible. The San-Francisco based artist plays with light and shadow phenomenally well, that each painting looks realistic yet artistic. (ABOVE) "Down the Montgomery", is breathtaking. It looks as though its raining in the city as you can see the reflection of the cars, buildings, etc., on the street. (BELOW 1) "Evening Over San Francisco", highlights the vibrancy and peace of a city on the west coast. The streets are busy, and bright while the rest of the city is darker. (BELOW 2) "Time Square Lights", doesn't Time Square look exciting? The bright lights, people, and energy are so well captured in this painting. (BELOW 3) "New York Night in Blue", this has to be my favorite cityscape painting. New York looks so mysterious in blue! What do you think of Mann's work?

Happy Monday, January 20, 2013 readers! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I'm very excited for today's swearing in of President Obama. Every election I'm always curious to see what the first lady will be wearing. The above photographs are so cool, I just realized that the colors are very patriotic! What I like about the first photograph is the mix of patterns. Don't be afraid of mixing stripes and circles, if done correctly it'll look great. I don't even know what to say about the second photograph! Those shoes are so rad (does anyone say rad anymore)? I can safely say that I have never seen shoes like this. What do you think?

1. I found a few great fashion pieces if your looking for a little wardrobe upgrade. This dress, is a great piece for the spring. I'm a huge fan of bold prints and this one does not disappoint. If you're into metallic leather boots, then I have a treat for you, they're Marc Jacobs and they're 50% off. A plus, plus! These earrings are so beautiful. They're classic with a modern spin. Definitely a great piece for spring. Wear them for a night out.

2. If you live in an old house or apartment like I do, you may have door knobs that need a little love and care. I'm one who will always save what is old and try to restore it to its former glory. This blog post, will give you some insights to cleaning your vintage metal hardware.

3. Let's talk food--this Sunday I enjoyed a nice pancake breakfast! If you're off from work today and still enjoying your weekend, then I suggest you try this recipe. I did and I can tell you, you will not be disappointed.

Today's Must Have: Jan 18, 2013

How gorgeous are these Lanvin Sneakers? I fell head over heels when I first saw them. They're so cool, and will definitely give your outfit that extra kick it needs. These sneakers need to be paired with a pair of skinny jeans. You could wear any colored skinny jeans, but I'd stick with black. You want these shoes to pop and not compete with the rest of the outfit. What I love about these sneakers is that mix of suede, skin, and that touch of ribbon. What do you think of these Lanvin sneakers?

Person Of Influence: Joan Miró

THE LADDER OF ESCAPE (1968)
http://m.pinterest.com
Joan Miró was a Catalan painter, sculptor, and ceramist that was born in Barcelona in 1893. Miró's work has been described as Surrealist and Dada, an avant-garde art movement, that took place in Europe in the early 20th century. Miró wanted to "assassinate" painting. (ABOVE) "The Ladder Of Escape" was painted by Miró in 1968. I'd describe this painting as abstract and not so much Surrealist.  I really like the different "punches" of color and variations in thicker and thiner line weights. (BELOW 1) "Bleu II" is an abstract oil panting that was painted in 1961. The painting is the middle part of a three-part display of paintings, which is known as a triptych. Modern paintings like this, by Miró conveyed his dreams and subconscious. (BELOW 2) "The Farm" was painted between 1921 and 22. This oil painting is an example of a Magical Realism. It was purchased by Earnest Hemingway as a birthday present for his wife. The painting is an inventory of the farmhouse owned by his family. (BELOW 3) "The Tilled Field" is an oil painting, painted in 1923. The painting is a perfect example of Miró's surrealist work. This painting is a complex arrangement of objects and figures, it is Miró's first surrealist masterpiece, currently hanging in the Guggenheim. What do you think of Miró's work?

Space's I'm Loving: Part VIII

http://www.architecturaldigest.com
Why I Love This Space: I love this space's zig zag black and white floors and vintage furniture.

This space designed by Kelly Wearstler is absolutely fabulous! With so much eye candy, my brain is on overdrive. I love the floors! This zig zag pattern is such a bold statement and totally works in this space. The pattern works in this space because, the rest of the space does not have bold graphic patterns or loud colors. The floors have their own voice and are not competing. The vintage furniture is beautiful. My favorite pieces are the sofas, and the ceiling fixture. Which do you prefer, the floors or the furniture? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

Why I Love This Space: I love this space's wall to wall windows and doors.

This space is extremely elegant and modern. The windows are the focal point of the space. They bring in an abundance of natural light and some of the outdoor greenery into the space. There are three doors, which when opened up will give the space a great breeze. Windows like this would look great in any home. Do you love the windows and doors? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

Why I Love This Space: I love this space's mix of rustic and modern touches.

Designed by Nate Berkus, this space has two very opposite styles. The first being modern and the second being rustic. For example, the table and accessories are rustic, and the painting, chairs, and apartment itself are modern. What makes this space work is the colors used. The green modern chairs work with the rustic table, because both are in the earth tone color family. Don't be afraid of mixing two completely opposite styles in your home. Just be sure to use pieces that are in the same color family to unify the space. What do you think of the space? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

Why I Love This Space: I love this space's wood walls.

The cream wood walls are the highlight of the space. They bring together all the furniture and give the space a warm and inviting feel. This space is sort of modern with a mountain feel. However, such walls would also work in a vintage space, similar to those designed by Kelly Wearstler. Do you love the walls? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.
