The Staple City

http://www.peterroot.com
When I was younger I had so much fun going into my Dad's office and taking his staples. Instead of using them to hold my papers together, I'd use them to build little cities. Peter Root's "Ephemicropolis" is a phenomenally well designed staple city! Root spent 40 hours building the city on the floor of a financial building in the Channel Islands. (ABOVE) This larger view of "Ephemicropolis" clearly shows the size of this stunning instillation. The floor of this financial building is the perfect backdrop. (BELOW 1) This close up of "Ephemicropolis" shows the extraordinary details. I love how the top staple sticks out in the center building. (BELOW 2) This photograph shows the smaller buildings. What gives "Ephemicropolis" its fascinating appearance is the variation in building heights and widths. I just can't imagine how steady his hands had to be! What do you think of Peter Root's "Ephemicropolis"?
