Room Spotlight: Edgy Chic

http://www.viceroyhotelsandresorts.com/miami/

This weeks Room Spotlight was designed by none other than Kelly Wearstler. I am a huge fan of the way she has designed the Club 50 Lounge at the Viceroy Hotel and Resort in Miami. The colors in this space are very energetic and together work beautifully. The Porter chairs that Kelly Wearstler uses in the space work harmoniously with the yellow chairs in the round seating areas. What gives this space a casual feel is the low seating arrangements. In addition, the low seating is a great decision due to the low ceilings. Throughout the space you will notice supporting columns, Kelly Wearstler applied an amazing green texture to the columns. The columns are a brilliant example of Louis Sullivan's Form Follows Function. Where the form of the columns serves as the green textural design and the function serves as the structural support. In the middle of the space, between two columns you will notice a blue sofa. This blue sofa breaks the colors in the space, as it adds a different tone of color. You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.
