The Shattered Glass Sculpture

http://www.danielarsham.com
New York based artist, Daniel Arsham has a wonderful way of manipulating common materials. His recent work is the manipulation of broken class to create a sculpture of the human form. Arsham was inspired to create such a project after discovering shards of glass in his home caused by Hurricane Andrew. (ABOVE) Arsham beautiful works with the broken pieces of glass to create this stunning, simple, yet complex sculpture. You can really admire the wrinkles in the shirt, amazing what Arsham was able to achieve. (BELOW 1) A close up view of the upper body and head shows the beauty of the glass. You can really see the nose, eyes, ears, and lips. The pieces of glass shine under the lights. (BELOW 2) This clear glass sculpture shows the human form holding a different pose. The fingers are lifelike and remarkably sculpted. (BELOW 3) A close up view of the sculpture. The clear glass used to create this sculpture looks like salt. What do you think of Arsham's sculptures?
