A Modern Glass House

© Joe Fletcher
This modern glass house located in Mendocino County, California is set on 160 acres of land looking over the mountains. The vacation home is private and makes a statement of its own against such a green backdrop. Architect Marmol Radziner wanted to preserve and and enhance the natural beauty of the property by carefully positioning it. Radziner used materials that were sustainable. (ABOVE) The 2,200 square foot home is smaller, keeping the focus on the simplicity of the architecture and the beauty of the surroundings. I always show homes that are so perfectly landscaped. The landscaping around this home is much more natural. I sort of like it, it works well here. (BELOW 1) I have mix feelings about the front of the home. As much as I love the back, the front feels sort of like a large portable bathroom. Maybe I'm being too harsh? It does have a futuristic vibe to it. (BELOW 2) The rectangular pool has views of the mountains. I really like how the back of the home opens up to the pool. Makes the inside feel like it's apart of the outside. (BELOW 3) Many mature oak trees surround the home. What do you think of the home?
