Monumenta 2012

© Stefan Tuchila
Daniel Buren's Monumenta 2012 installation in the Grand Palais is a magnificent site. Photographed by Stefan Tuchila the installation brings a modern energy into the Grand Palais with bursts of color and clean lines. (ABOVE) I love the way the natural light shines into the structure and through each of the colors, creating a colorful floor. (BELOW 1) A view under the installations, gives a clear view of what observers see. It's like walking through a kaleidoscope! (BELOW 2) The ceiling of the Grand Palais changes colors as one walks from one installation to the other. What do you think of Monumenta 2012?

Geometric Tape Transformation

http://www.jimlambie.com/home.html
Jim Lambie has a way of infusing energy into a space. Using everyday vinyl tape, Lambie creates works of art, which you can walk on. Different colors, angles, and shapes come together to create optical illusions and a sense of interaction between the art and the viewer. (ABOVE) This sophisticated taped down pattern is my favorite of the many floor installations Lambie has done. There is much depth to this piece. (BELOW 1) This floor installation is full of energy and color. This energy is much needed because, the corridor is quite dark and serious. (BELOW 2) A close up of Lambie's work shows the details. According to Lambie, his floor installations take several weeks to complete. What do you think about Lambie's floor installations?

Room Spotlight: Moroccan Style

http://www.elledecor.com
This Moroccan inspired Living Room is full of brilliant patterns and textures. I love the Frank Gehry Wiggle chairs and how the vintage Indian belts soften the chairs. The beautiful Beni Ourain rug, brings a strong wool texture into the space. By keeping the walls an off white color the different patterns and pieces have a voice. The African dolls that rest on the console table bring an international flair to the space as do the masks in the Dining Room. What do you love about this space? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

The Crystal Lagoon

http://urbanpeek.com
The Crystal Lagoon is the world's largest swimming pool, located at the San Alfonso del Mar resort in Chile. The pool covers an area of 19 acres! (ABOVE) Not only can you swim in this pool but, you can also sail! And with a sand pool deck, I don't see the beach being too popular! (BELOW 1) My only concern would be falling asleep on a floaty and ending up in the middle! But with clear blue water like that I think I'll take my chances. (BELOW 2) Another view of the pool shows the sand pool deck. What an amazing view. What do you think of the pool?

Living On The Bay

http://www.archdaily.com
This beautiful modern bay house designed by Luigi Rosselli architects is located in Sydney, Australia. (ABOVE) The home's clean lines and rounded corners are simple and architectural. The landscaping reflects the home's simplicity. (BELOW 1) The overhanging roof is wonderful, I love the shapes and variation and how each overhang is offset. Without the roof the home would not make such a strong statement. (BELOW 2) The front doors are a strong statement with their neutral toned pattern. The gray shutters are a unique architectural element. (BELOW 3) I love the clear guard rail and steel screws that hold the rail in place. What a wonderful view of the bay! What do you think of this home?

Greenwich Farm Estate

http://www.sothebyshomes.com
This historic 1926 farm estate located in Greenwich, Connecticut designed by Charles Bowman is set on over 75 acres of land. The Elizibethan-inspired Tudor boats over 15,000 sq ft of interior space. (ABOVE) At the end of a long, formal driveway you are greeted by a gorgeous home! I love the mix of wood, brick, and stone as the home's exterior materials. The landscaping is also perfection. Tailored hedges and flowers gives the home's exterior grounds much life. (BELOW 1) The chimney is the focal point of the roof. What a bold construction element! (BELOW 2) The flowers soften the rigid stone facade. (BELOW 3) The hedge maze is a classic landscape design element for home's in this style. The palm tree in the center of the maze however, is a surprise! (BELOW 4) The clean cut grass and deep green leaves are wonderful. I would love to be sitting on the lawn, soaking in the views, right about now! (BELOW 5) The tennis court features a small cottage to store equipment and such. What a great structure! (BELOW 6) I love this outdoor chess table, very sculptural! Just the perfect amount of surprise for the home's exterior grounds. What do you think of this Greenwich farm estate?
