Mixed Media Collages

Jenya Vyguzov's mixed media collages are absolutely stunning pieces of art. Each piece has a strong voice as various images work together to create one body of art. (ABOVE) I find the Eiffel Tower to be the perfect nose in this piece! I love the bright colored lipstick. (BELOW 1) Instead of having legs, the model in this piece has a set of arms. It's a simple piece, and the model reminds me of a ballerina. (BELOW 2) The wing is stunning as it commands the attention in this piece. (BELOW 3) I find it beautiful how the wings pigmentation begins to soak into its surroundings. (BELOW 4) Big Ben serves as the perfect head in this piece. Very cool! (BELOW 5) Words can't describe this piece! Any thoughts?

The Comic Women

Let's just say, listening to #Thatpower and looking at this phenomenal series by Sandra Chevrier was an awesome idea! The music and art took me to a different world for a few minutes. A world of bad ass superhero comic women. Chevrier's mixed media illustrations capture women with superhero strength in brilliant color and stroke use. (ABOVE) In this piece you look at her forehead and see what she's thinking, where she's going. I love the collar of comic strips, and the blotchy paint stroke hair. (BELOW 1) Hello eyes! I love this piece, her mouth is silenced and you're immediately drawn in by her beautiful eyes. It looks like she's reacting to the weapon at the bottom right. (BELOW 2) In this piece, the woman looks like she's dreaming of comics. I love the neck, it has a watercolor quality to it. (BELOW 3) I sort of see this woman foretelling the future! At the bottom right there's a caption that states, it's too late. They should have listened to her earlier! (BELOW 4) Here the woman looks like her eyes are being bandaged. Maybe the villains finally got? I hope not! (BELOW 5) The Super Man lips are a hot look. Who needs big lips? I'd rather have big "S" lips! What do you think?

Combining Watercolor And Photographs

Fabienne Rivory's mixed media images are breathtaking. Each image features a brilliant pop of watercolor on a gray photograph. Rivory has been mixing different medias to create such images since 2007 and has thus greatly mastered her skill. (ABOVE) A pop of red against a photograph of a child walking. If you turn your head you'll notice that the trees are actually apart of a park. (BELOW 1) A pop of green against a photograph of people walking on what appears to be an upside down mountain. (BELOW 2) A pop of yellow is the color of the sea. (BELOW 3) A pop of blue that runs into another upside mountain and into the clouds. What do you think of Rivory's work?
