I can't tell you how much I'm loving this home. Located in Sydney and designed by architects Rolf Ockert Design is this phenomenal open concept beach front home. The architect wanted to design a home that made the owners feel like they're on vacation everyday. Personally, If I had a house like this I'd have a very difficult time getting any work done! The home is constructed of timber, and concrete, which gives the home a fresh, yet grounded look. The way in which the home is designed takes full advantage of the views and its location. (ABOVE) The front of the house has a modest clean look. The greenish painted concrete and wood sided roof blend into its surroundings. I love the stone pathway.

(1) The back of the house is completely different from the front. Gone is the simple modest look of the front, boom! The back of the home is very open using much glass. The outdoors come right into the different areas.

(2) The infinite pool is gorgeous. Words cannot describe how wonderful this backyard is. Entertain guests on the grass and set up a few tables or take a nap. I love the different plantings, the landscape feels very natural.

(3) The inside of the home uses much wood. The reason the architects decided to not have windows on the side walls at eye level is due to the neighbors close proximity. I love the open concept plan and white kitchen. The space manages to feel like it's located on the beach without trying too hard.

(4) The main level has a phenomenal ocean front view. I can picture myself cooking in the kitchen, eating at the dining room, or curling up on the couch and soaking in these views. On the right side is the kitchen counters, love how modern yet 70s inspired they are.

Why I Love This Space: I love that this beach home is not designed like a typical beach home

Interior designer Kelly Wearstler has done it again! A beautiful space, that screams glamour. This beach house is not designed like the typical home on the sea. Whenever you think beach house you think blue walls, glass, and nautical paintings. What Wearstler did in this space is magical. Wood, sand colored furniture, and bamboo lamp shades, are an elegant beach statement. This space feels like a cabin on a ship. The area rug looks soft like the sand. I wish this was my bedroom. You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

Why I Love This Space: I love this space's laid back elegance

This bedroom is designed like a classic New York City bedroom. Large windows, lots of photographs and minimal color make this space feel chic. I love the cork headboard, it's understated elegance. In a small space like this, a minimalist headboard, does not take away, but makes the space appear taller. The leopard print, gives some visual interest in the space. Without the print the space would be much more boring. Placing photographs on the floor, keeps things looking more laid back. You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

Why I Love This Space: I love this space's chandelier and vintage pieces

Hello Lindsey Adelman chandelier! This chandelier makes an incredible statement in this space. It ties the whole space together. I prefer placing Adelman's chandelier in space's with tall ceilings. Since the chandelier's are very large, placing them in a space with normal ceilings would overpower the space. I love the vintage table, chairs, placing them in this space, makes the room feel fresh. The area rug sort of reminds me of grass! You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

Why I Love This Space: I love this space's eclectic mix, it's a space of a traveler

This living area looks like it was designed by a person who loves traveling around the world. The space is eclectic, and each piece has its own style. The two arm chairs are of Asian influence, the paining has a Moroccan flair to it, and the wood bend in front of the doors looks like it's from Thailand. I love this mix. I only wish that the designer had added more furniture and accessories into the space. It's a space with so much potential, a little too minimal for me. You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

I sort of have an obsession when it comes to water front properties. Maybe it's the fact that I've been a swimmer my whole life. There's just something super relaxing about waking up in the morning to see the water out your window. This gated water front home is an absolute beauty. Located in Miami, the home boasts over 5000 square feet of living space conveniently located to shopping, as well as the beach and restaurants. Could you ask for anything better? (ABOVE) The home is nestled behind a wall of hedges and a gate. I love the larger stone driveway. The home has a Mediterranean flair and has its own unique character.

(1) From the front lawn the house doesn't look quite as large as it is. The blue shutters add a bit of a kick. The architecture of the home is very California to say the least. I usually like having the garage in the rear of the house, however, I don't mind its place here.

(2) The back of the home features a fantastic shaded back deck. The perfect place to entertain guests or just take a nap away from the hot Florida sun. I like how the table blends into its souroundings.

(3) The pool is right off the back porch. Take a nap and then dive in. The proximity of the pool to the house gives the home a bit more shade, perfect for those hot days.

(4) The back of the home has a wonderful deck and 2nd floor terrace. From the terrace you have an unobstructed view of the water. What I like about the back of the home is the simplicity of the architecture. The back looks designed, but without trying too hard.

(5) I love the landscape design of the backyard, however, I just wish the property were bigger. Then again, a larger property would come with a heftier price tag. I like how the palm trees flank the entrance to the boat deck.

(6) How great is this dock? You can't park an enormous yacht here, but an average size water vehicle will do. I could get use to living here! What do you think of the home? Would you move in?

Weekly Start Off: No 11

I love classic architecture, because you can furnish your home in a wide array of styles. Like modern, traditional, eclectic, and live in a classically built house? No problem! All these interior styles will work and look great in any one of these homes.

1. A beautiful Neo-Classical home located in Newport Beach, CA with unparalleled views of the water. Despite the home being rather new, it looks like it has been around for quite some time. I find the many windows, and doors to enhance the overall architecture of the house. The well maintained lawn and planting add to the beauty. I wish I was kicking back by the pool right now!

2. A wonderful manor house located in Switzerland. The home's architecture has a classic Swiss feel. I absolutely love the center dome. It's a touch of the unexpected. If you place your finger over the dome and half circle entryway the home has a very ordinary look. The dome and half circle entryway make the home. The potted flowers and shrubs, add color where needed.

3. London has some of the most magnificent looking townhouses. Townhouses like the one above, for example, are clean and manage to add a little green life to their facade. The window cornices are necessary to give the facade some architectural pizazz. When you think about it, a townhouse only has the front face to make a statement. Heavily adorned cornices, and doors, and detailed window fences as well as phenomenal edging is needed. I love the flower boxes!

4. This house pays homage to many different classic architecture styles. Greek, Italian, French, English, styles have influenced the architecture of the home. The triangular design above the front door is very Greek as well as Italian, Palladio. The windows, doors, and Manson roof are very French. And the way the stone is arranged on the front facade, reminds me of an English townhouse.

5. Located in Italy, this home has commanding views of the sea. The home's architecture is heavily influenced by Greek design and the work of Palladio. If you image the home without the columns it would have a completely different look. It would not have the same grandeur, nor the same elegance.

Yesterday, I had the honor of being featured on LDV with this post. Here is the post in case you missed it...When I think of California, I think of large estates set on perfectly manicured lawns, stylish women dressed in stunning outfits, and views of mountains and pristine beaches. (ABOVE) Designed by Warren Callister on Belvedere Island, this stunning California home has views of the Golden Gate Bridge.  The landscaping gives the home an intimate feel. The mansard roof was a great choice as it plays up the home's elegance. (BELOW 1) Nestled behind trees, this modern home is located in Santa Barbra. It has a very 70s inspired architecture, very modern California glamour. The landscaping surrounding the home stays in line with the home's modern architecture. It's clean, simple, and well maintained. (BELOW 2) This European inspired villa is located in Holmby Hills. The front doors are absolutely stunning. The black stands out against the limestone facade. I love the tree in front of the left window. It has such an unusual form and makes a big statement as people come to the front door. (BELOW 3) The backyard of this Santa Barbra mansion is breathtaking. The many boxwoods create a nice "fence" around the pool which has sweeping views of the sea. I could see the most glamorous photoshoot taking place here. Which estate is your favorite?

(ABOVE 4) The Mediterranean Revival, Hearst Mansion located in San Simeon, has sweeping views of the mountains and shore. The home was designed by architect Julia Morgan who had originally planned to design a small bungalow for William Hearst. After a month of discussion the decision for a small bungalow grew into a large scale castle. What are your thoughts on the Hearst Castle? (ABOVE 5) Designer Kelly Wearstler is well known for her love of Hollywood Regency. This fantastic sitting area has all the elements for California glamour. How amazing is that large sculpture to the far right? I love all the stone! What do you think of the Kelly Wearstler space?

1. Built in Switzerland in the 1970s, this classic home has many classic elements. What I love about this property is both the simple landscaping, ivy, and roof. Even though this home was built in the 1970s it manages to look like it was built in the 1920s. I like that the home is not extremely tall, it blends into its surroundings much better. A great new look for an afternoon sitting in this Swedish backyard.

 2. A modern home located in Spain! The wall of windows and glass railings allow lots of natural light to pass into the home. In addition, one has unobstructed views of the sea. The landscape is minimal as to complement the architecture of the home. The architecture of the home reminds me of a ship at sea. The larger first floor terrace has a pool! A great new look for an afternoon sitting by the pool and looking at the ocean.

3. A wonderful home located in Paris! The home is located in the 16th arrondissement. The property features a large garden and open terraces, a two car garage and four floors. The architecture is classic French. I love the mansard style roof. The outdoor space's are wonderfully landscaped. How gorgeous are the sculptures? Being that the property is located in Paris, such a wonderful outdoor space is a dime in the rough! A great new look for an afternoon walking though Paris.

4. Located behind a fantastic iron gate in Palm Beach, Florida is this sophisticated mansion. The home was built in 2008 and has many modern day amenities. I love the three large iron detailed front doors. Once you pass through the iron gates you are greeted by a center motor court. The motor court is done with large stone tiles, between the tiles is grass. Tall green hedges, hide the stone fence. A great new look for an afternoon in Palm Beach, Florida, relaxing in this home.  

Classic Spanish Style House

Palm Beach, Florida is known for its grand homes that are designed in the Spanish architectural style. However, most of these homes are newly built, and lack the character of older homes. This amazing 1919 classic Spanish-style home was designed by architect Addison Mizner. The 10-bedroom villa is located on over 1.5 acres of land and has breathtaking ocean front views. (ABOVE) The back of the house features a large lawn, and patio. The lawn faces the ocean, so it's a great place to relax, play, and soak in the view. The architecture looks so impressive. I love the balconies and Terra Cotta roof. White homes always look so fresh. (BELOW 1) The property is located rather close to the ocean. Don't worry about it being destroyed in a hurricane though, it has already stood here for over 90 years. (BELOW 2) The crystal clear water of South Florida is breathtaking. A walk along the shore sounds really good right now.
